I am not dead.

My recent absence here is not a result of violent injury or any type of bodily harm or illness. So don’t worry. It’s this silly day job I have which keeps me from post as regularly as I’d like. This I&I gig keeps us on our toes with plenty of business but stand by for more action in the near future!

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. In the meantime, as All Hallows Eve is approaching, it’s time to decide who you are going trick-or-treating as. Feel free to go as your favorite super hero. I know who I’m going as.

  1. Halloween? So soon? Every year I encourage my kids to go crazy at Goodwill (it’s amazing what you can do with a little money and lots of imagination) and every year they have this bizarre fantasy that I’m going to spend hundreds of dollars and almost as many hours putting together some grand costume. My son’s dream is a ghillie suit, but we’re worried that, in an urban environment, that will make him a walking fire hazard.

  2. My finest costume moment was when I got a hold of an old fur coat from the thrift store. I cut the sleeves off and put them on my legs below the knee then strapped on a big leather belt. Add a plastic sword and I was a barbarian warrior!

  3. My fondest Halloween memory is the year my Father helped me build an airplane on the dining room table and I went as the Red Baron. The wings were detachable as the thing was to large to get out of the door in one piece!! We had a great time building it. That was worth more to me than the costume contest was….

  4. My favorite Halloween memory is of a punk 10th grader (too old to be out trick or treating) going airborne after pounding on the door to demand candy and being met at eye-level by one of our German Shepherds.

I swear her feet didn’t touch the ground until she was out on the sidewalk. Never saw her again.

  5. Heh.

Marines could dress up like civilians for halloween.

The more imaginative Marines could dress up like a DI’s version of a civilian.

Is that your previous outfit that’s being sent to Libya? What do you think about the White House leaking the info about them going?

Got bless them and keep them safe,

    Libyan Embassy Attack

    WASHINGTON –

U.S. officials say some 50 Marines are being sent to Libya to reinforce security at U.S. diplomatic facilities in the aftermath of an attack in the eastern city of Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador and three American members of his staff.

The Marines are members of an elite group known as a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team, whose role is to respond on short notice to terrorism threats and to reinforce security at U.S. embassies. They operate worldwide.

The officials who disclosed the plan to send the Marines spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
