235 years of satisfied customer service!

Let me first wish all the Marines out there a happy birthday. We who serve today truly stand on the shoulders of mighty men of valor who have gone before us.

Today in FAST Company Bahrain the celebrations were festive, brutal, and will be reported on later.

Last night I finished reading Brute: The Life of Victor Krulak and am afraid I may unintentionally plagiarize myself so this will be a short one. I’ve been drunk on the book ever since I cracked it open and Kanani has even accused me of sounding like Brute Krulak (this I accept as a most flattering compliment).

In the book Brute is quoted during Vietnam as saying that you can’t beat and idea with a bullet. You can only beat an idea with a better idea.

I suggest the United States Marine Corps is a better idea, with bullets.

May the term “Marine” forever remain synonymous with “victory!”

Semper Fidelis! Happy birthday Marine Corps!

Also a good thing to keep in mind when you’re thinking about beating a good idea etc.

“As soon as they make something Idiot Proof, they make a better idiot.”

Be safe, remember: anybody worth shooting once, is worth shooting twice— Double Tap!

  2. Yup, I left my comment on the book on the Amazon site. I’ll write something up on the blog. I was absolutely captivated by the book. Thought it was FIRST RATE. It was the result of many years of working with and around him. Kudos to his family for going the distance and making sure the whole man is remembered.

  3. Happy Belated Birthday… and so you know even the lil guys know the seriousness of being a MARINE. My 5 year old came home from school after a Bully assembly to tell me, “Mom if you see someone being a bully, you stand in front of the kid their being mean to, face the Bully, put your hand out in front of you and say “STOP BEING A BULLY. IT’S NOT OK” with your serious face.” I asked my son, “What does your serious face look like?” His answer? “MY MARINE FACE MOM.”
Protecting the innocent while polite and serious… Sounds like a Marine to me.

  4. Congratulations and happy birthday to you USMC! It’s really nice to know that USMC is now on its 235th year of great customer service! 235 years really is a no joke in giving great service for the people. And I truly hope that all companies and organizations in town will also reach that vast number. A good customer service actually may be attained if the company has well-trained call center associates or customer care representatives to handle even the most difficult concerns of their clients. And I know that’s what you guys do so two thumbs up for you!

  5. Happy Birthday too, you have a nice post. Anyway, In my opinion, Excellent customer service must have excellent customer service skills, a clear speaking voice. Excellent customer service also must have an enthusiastic and positive attitude. I believe that treating the customer so politely makes them so comfortable with your services.
